Card reader is a catch-all phrase we use to refer to an electronic device that can be used to identify an object (usually a Truck) using electronic or printed data.

 

Typically readers would be:

 

•RFID readers (cards, tags)

•Licence plate readers

•Barcode readers (printed labels)

 

However, any device that can send (using a serial port) a string of characters that contains a unique identifier can be used.
